Mekong Delta Vietnam

The Mekong River Delta is the rice bowl of Vietnam and yields enough rice for the whole country plus a surplus, farming is intensive and although the region is rural it is one of the most densely populated areas of Vietnam.
The Delta is formed by sediment deposited by the Mekong River and extends the shore line by 80metres annually.

Known as the Nine Dragon River in Vietnam the famous Mekong River’s source is 2800miles away in Tibet and filters through India, Laos and Cambodia where the river splits into two main rivers, then finally in Vietnam breaks up into a more complex system creating a maze of rivers and small canals spotted with villages and floating markets.
